Leigh Woods
Ancient woodland and stunning gorge views
Managed by the National Trust, Leigh Woods is an ancient woodland that hugs the western edge of the Avon Gorge, offering some of the most dramatic views in the South West.
The site is a patchwork of broadleaf forest and wildflower-rich glades, with a network of trails ranging from easy circular walks to challenging mountain bike routes.
History enthusiasts can explore the remains of Stokeleigh Camp, an Iron Age hillfort that sits atop the cliffs, while nature lovers will appreciate the rare trees and diverse birdlife.
The viewpoint at the edge of the gorge provides an unparalleled perspective of the Clifton Suspension Bridge, looking back toward the city.
It is a rugged, wild landscape that feels worlds apart from the urban centre just across the river.

There is no National Trust parking at Leigh Woods but Forestry England have a pay and display car park at their entrance to Leigh Woods.
