The 'Horned Bridge' of the Harbourside

Pero's Bridge

Pero's Bridge is an elegant and modern pedestrian bascule bridge that spans the floating harbour, instantly recognisable by its two distinctive horn-like counterweights.

Named in 1999 in honour of Pero Jones, an enslaved African man who lived and worked in Bristol during the 18th century, the bridge serves as a meaningful monument to the city's complex maritime past.

Its sleek, curved design and central location make it a popular spot for photographs and a key link between Queen Square and Millennium Square.

As you cross, you can often see thousands of "love locks" attached to its railings, adding a personal, community touch to this striking piece of urban engineering.
